Contemporary Mythopoesis of the Cerrado

Beginning with simple settings constructed within the Cerrado itself, or in the remnants left behind by its destruction, I invite two female dancers, dressed in costumes created specifically for the occasion, to embody communication with the more-than-human beings and forces of the place. Allowing themselves to be affected by the forces of nature, their movements express the non-verbal language of non-human beings, with their own bodies-as-territory becoming channels for listening and expression. This movement embodies the principles of deep ecology, in which the boundary between human beings and the earth dissolves, making space to recognize the intrinsic value of every organism.

The dances are filmed, creating an audiovisual record of this Cerrado mythopoesis—the poetic creation of new myths rooted in the landscape. The project subsequently unfolds through a transmedia approach: selected frames from the video documentation become references for large-scale oil paintings, allowing the narrative to flow and reconfigure itself across different languages and mediums.
