The oil painting series Pitaya is inspired by photographic documentation of the multispecies ecoperformance of the same name. In the performance, dressed in the colors of the pitaya and surrounded by the Cerrado, I interact with the fruit, attempting to overcome the hierarchical assumptions between myself and another species.

The performance becomes an intimate encounter between two beings of different species and culminates in one being ingested by the other. In this act, a third, hybrid being emerges, even if only for a brief moment. The fruit and I become a “we”—a new form.
